Forum on Education, Women and Sustainable Development 2021 and the Development of High-quality Education System and Female College Students held
Time: October 29, 2021On October 21, the Forum on Education, Women and Sustainable Development 2021 and the Development of High-quality Education System and Female College Students was held at 9:00 am in Beijing International Convention Center.
The forum was co-hosted by China Education Association for International Exchange and Renmin University of China(RUC). The Expert Committee on Education, Women and Sustainable Development, the International Exchange Office of RUC, the School of Education of RUC, and the interdisciplinary platform of 'Double first-class' for mental health education of RUC also participated in the preparation of the forum and the symposium.
Experts and scholars from universities, education industry and government at home and abroad participated in the conference, including Liu Limin, President of China Education Association for International Exchange, Jin Nuo, Chair of the University Council as well as representatives of universities such as Instituto de Mexico, University of Munich, University of Louis in Italy and Singapore Management University etc.
He Hong, Professor of the School of Sociology and Population of RUC, and other Chinese and foreign guests attended the forum and delivered speeches.
There were also representatives from the government, universities and enterprises, as well as nearly 100 teachers and students from RUC. Zhang Xiuqin, Vice Chairman of the Expert Committee, Vice Chairman of China Education Association for International Exchange and former Permanent Ambassador of China to UNESCO, presided over the opening ceremony of the forum.
The theme of the forum is 'Empowering Girls for Growth -- Development of Female College Students from the Perspective of a High-quality Education System'.
Starting from the development of female college students, the forum actively responds to the major issue of education development in the Outline of Vision 2035, which aims to improve national quality, promote all-round human development and build a high-quality education system. It aims to promote the continuous exploration of female education in the educational circle and arouse the continuous attention of all sectors of society to female education.
Gender equality, as one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, has always been a key topic of concern for teachers and students of the School of International Organizations at RUC.
In order to further strengthen the knowledge of gender equality and female education, the teachers and students participated in the forum and seminar, carefully studied the wonderful speeches of the guests, and conducted systematic research and reflection on the theme of 'Empowering Girls, Promoting Growth -- Construction of high-quality Education System and Development of Female College Students'. This visit and study activity is also one of the 'series of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of China's restoration of its lawful seat in the United Nations'.
Lu Chenyan, a graduate student of the School of Law and also a student of the School of International Organizations, said,“as a woman with higher education, I am inspired and encouraged by thestories and experiences of my predecessors. I also hope to use what I havelearned to shine in the field of international organizations in thefuture.”
Liu Yang, a graduate student of the School of Business and also a student of the School of International Organizations, said, “to oursurprise, the gender discrimination of female superiors towards femalesubordinates is even harsher than that of male superiors towards femalesubordinates. All in all, there is still a long way to go to to witness the improvement of female leadership in all walks of life.”
